SCA Social Studies Mission
Grade 7 World History Mission
In conjunction with the four pillars of the Dominican Order, (Community, Ministry, Study and Prayer), the mission of the Saint Catherine’s Academy World History class is to educate our cadets for effective leadership and membership in a global political, social, economic, and spiritual community by providing an historical understanding of the major world civilizations, cultures and religions. The class ranges from ancient times to the pre-modern era and spans nearly every continent. To this end, I establish an environment that is engaging and informative, and provides our cadets a historical perspective of ancient civilizations and how their beliefs and actions taken by them throughout recorded history affects our modern civilizations and cultures today.
Grade 8 United States History Mission
In conjunction with the four pillars of the Dominican Order, (Community, Ministry, Study and Prayer), the mission of the Saint Catherine’s Academy United States History class is to impart to our cadets a cultural and natural understanding of one’s place in God's world, which is essential to good citizenship, by introducing them to the rich and diverse history of the United States and its democratic system of government. To this end, I establish an environment that is engaging and informative, and provides our cadets a historical perspective for moral contemplation as well as the intellectual tools needed to become informed, honorable, respectful and engaged citizens.
